What Are WhatsApp Ads?

WhatsApp Ads are run through Meta Ads Manager, where the call-to-action (CTA) in the ad is “Send Message on WhatsApp.” These ads appear on Facebook or Instagram, and when users click the CTA, they’re redirected to a WhatsApp chat with your business.

These ads are designed to start instant conversations, generate leads, offer support, or even drive sales — directly through WhatsApp.

 They are not shown on WhatsApp itself, but they open a WhatsApp chat from Instagram or Facebook ads.

  • These are Facebook or Instagram ads with a “Send Message” CTA linked to your WhatsApp number.

2. WhatsApp Broadcast via API (Post-Lead)

3. Sponsored Message (Coming Soon to India)
  • In select markets, Meta allows in-app WhatsApp ads like sponsored messages.

  • Not fully rolled out in India yet.

Requirements for Running WhatsApp Ads

1. Meta Business Suite Setup
  • A verified Meta Business Manager account.

  • Facebook page linked with your WhatsApp Business number.

  • Instagram account connected (if running Insta ads).

2. WhatsApp Business App or API
  • For basic use: Use the WhatsApp Business App on mobile.

  • For automation or bulk messaging: You’ll need WhatsApp Business API through providers like Zoko, WATI, Interakt, etc.

3. Ad Creatives
  • Image, video, or carousel

  • A short caption

  • Clear CTA like: “Message us now,” “Ask us anything,” or “Get today’s offer”

4. Target Audience Setup
  • Age, location, interest, behavior filters via Meta Ads Manager

  • Can also create custom audiences (people who visited your site, messaged before, etc.)

5. Message Templates (For Automation)
  • For sending follow-ups, offers, reminders — you need template approval from Meta

  • Templates can include text, buttons, emojis, and links
